Welcome to a new part of my life. Many of you know about my love for arts as a writer/journalist, photographer and musician—and my heart for encouraging others’ creativity. God has now called me into another area of ministry where I’ll keep doing what I’m doing, but with more intentionality.

Just over a year ago, I was interviewing Artists in Christian Testimony (A.C.T.) International executive director Byron Spradlin for a ChristianWeek Ontario article. A challenge from Byron led to the formation of Selaw (pronounced ‘say-LAV’) Ministries.

Tonight’s guest has packed a lot into his young life: he’s established his own art gallery and arts foundation. He’s been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal and honour as one of Canada’s top 20 under 20. And recently nature artist Josh Tiessen (http://www.joshtiessen.com) has been chosen as the youngest member in two elite international artist guilds: Artists for Conservation and the International Guild of Realism.

Arts Connection for Monday, November 10, 2014 - Kathleen Sheehy - "Boiler Room Suite"

In the latest offering of Lost & Found Theatre (http://www.lostandfoundtheatre.com) tonight’s guest plays a former actress, who, along with a failed poet climb into the boiler room of an abandoned hotel on the Prairies to seek refuge from winter and the world. Kathleen Sheehy is also a founding member of the ensemble and it’s artistic director and is on the phone to talk to us about Boiler Room Suite and a concept called Radical Hospitality.

Arts Connection for Monday, October 20, 2014 - Cliff McDowell - "The Masked Saint" film

What prompts a pastor to return to his roots as a professional wrestler and become a masked vigilante? The Masked Saint, (http://themaskedsaintmovie.com) a new film produced by Sault St. Marie native Cliff McDowell, is based on the journey of Chris Samuels was celebrated at the Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival in September.

Arts Connection for Monday, October 13, 2014 - Steve Bell - "Pilgrimage" 25 years of recording

It’s been 25 years since Steve Bell (http://stevebell.com) recorded and released Comfort My People, his first album. To celebrate the occasion, Bell has released Pilgrimage, a box-set with four CDs and a mini-biography. Also recently released has been the documentary Burning Ember: the Steve Bell journey chronicles the life of one of Canada’s enduring Christian troubadours.

We Make Stuff Volume 1 was a stunning book—both the print and e-book versions—and a spectacular showcase that explores the collision of faith and creativity of 100 artists and innovators from Vancouver. David Vandas, one of the originators of the We Make Stuff Volume 1 (http://wemakestuff.ca/), is now working on We Make Stuff Volume 2.
