Write! Canada (https://thewordguild.com/events/write-canada) is the largest, and probably longest-running national writers’ conference. With ever-increasing attendance numbers, organizers have had to move the conference from the cozy confines of the Guelph Bible Conference Centre to the Novotel building in downtown North York. With me tonight are two key players in the conference: journalists Bill Fledderus, who is one of the two keynote speakers, and Lisa Hall-Wilson, who is also the conference assistant director.
Welcome to a new part of my life. Many of you know about my love for arts as a writer/journalist, photographer and musician—and my heart for encouraging others’ creativity. God has now called me into another area of ministry where I’ll keep doing what I’m doing, but with more intentionality.
Just over a year ago, I was interviewing Artists in Christian Testimony (A.C.T.) International executive director Byron Spradlin for a ChristianWeek Ontario article. A challenge from Byron led to the formation of Selaw (pronounced ‘say-LAV’) Ministries.

Charmaine Brown had a successful career as a solo musician, recording a couple CDs and garnering multiple Canadian GMA award nominations. But even the support of her husband, Jason, couldn’t keep her from becoming disappointed and disillusioned with the music industry. Charmaine took a brief hiatus from the music industry. But then she started songwriting again, which led to a third solo CD. After that, the couple decided to begin create music together.
