Welcome to a new part of my life. Many of you know about my love for arts as a writer/journalist, photographer and musician—and my heart for encouraging others’ creativity. God has now called me into another area of ministry where I’ll keep doing what I’m doing, but with more intentionality.

Just over a year ago, I was interviewing Artists in Christian Testimony (A.C.T.) International executive director Byron Spradlin for a ChristianWeek Ontario article. A challenge from Byron led to the formation of Selaw (pronounced ‘say-LAV’) Ministries.

Kim Pottruff has taken her passion for the dramatic arts—which she spent more than a decade and a half honing—and turned it into the new theatre troupe—Audience of One (http://www.audienceofoneguelph.ca/)—whose aim is to “bring the gospel to life through drama and music.” Kim Pottruff, the troupe's artistic director, talks about the theatre troupe and its production of Dinner with a Perfect Stranger.

Arts Connection for Monday, December 1, 2014 - Jeremy Zeyl - Body & Soul - a worship collective

Jeremy Zeyl's last project was the conversion of a catechism into a liturgical resource. Jeremy Zeyl’s The Heidelberg Project was also intended to be used as a worship resource and meditative listening piece. Now he’s working on a new project which combines live worship, elements of The Heidelberg Project and some new material in what he’s calling Body & Soul—A Worship Collective (http://www.bodyandsoulcollective.com/#body-and-soul-event).

Arts Connection for Monday, November 24, 2014 - Carolyn Arends - "Christmas - The Story of Stories" CD

The result of a more than successful Kickstarter fundraising program, Christmas: The Story of Stories is the first Christmas CD for Carolyn Arends (http://carolynarends.com) in about a decade. Carolyn is now promoting the CD with tours and concerts and is with me on the phone tonight from her home in British Columbia to talk about these new expressions, in song, of the Christmas story.

Arts Connection for Monday, November 17, 2014 - Josh Tiessen - Latest accolades

Tonight’s guest has packed a lot into his young life: he’s established his own art gallery and arts foundation. He’s been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal and honour as one of Canada’s top 20 under 20. And recently nature artist Josh Tiessen (http://www.joshtiessen.com) has been chosen as the youngest member in two elite international artist guilds: Artists for Conservation and the International Guild of Realism.

Arts Connection for Monday, November 10, 2014 - Kathleen Sheehy - "Boiler Room Suite"

In the latest offering of Lost & Found Theatre (http://www.lostandfoundtheatre.com) tonight’s guest plays a former actress, who, along with a failed poet climb into the boiler room of an abandoned hotel on the Prairies to seek refuge from winter and the world. Kathleen Sheehy is also a founding member of the ensemble and it’s artistic director and is on the phone to talk to us about Boiler Room Suite and a concept called Radical Hospitality.
